Hardwood Designs is a single-artist source for segmented hardwood bowls and vases. They are sold at art shows, usually in the metropolitan St. Louis area, eastern Missouri, and western Illinois, and at the Mindworks Art Gallery in Chesterfield Mall, Chesterfield Missouri, or through this web site.
Segmented construction allows a wide variety of multicolor designs. All wood colors are natural. The wood segments are assembled into rings and the rings joined into layers. The shape of the vessel is produced by turning on a lathe. The turnings are finished with lacquer and then waxed to produce a long lasting hard finish. Typical wall thickness is about 3/8 of an inch but can also be made much thinner.
The artist is a juried member of the Greater St. Louis Art Association, and the Best of Missouri Hands.
